The Power of Mentoring by Reginald Richardson

Reginald Richardson provides some great insight into mentoring in schools and gives examples of great organizations leading the cause.  He writes that "current research is indicating that consistent interactions with competent adults through structured mentoring relationships can lead to significant gains in student achievement.  For some, all of this might sound like a no- brainer: Put kids into contact with adults who care about them, and they will perform better."  Read more by clicking the link below.

Mentoring of high school students by former high school graduates from the same high school is the idea behind Revenue Club.  Our program pairs students with alumni graduates to learn the details and best practices associated with pursuing the exciting careers these former students are now involved in.  Revenue Club helps the next generation attain their career goals by learning first-hand from the examples and successes that helped shape these mentors into the career professionals they are today.   Check us out at www.revenueclub.org or Like us on Facebook.

Mentor like you mean it.

Great article about mentoring by Dave Balter and Jennifer Lum for INC. Magazine that I highly recommend.  Mentoring in any organization is a win-win and provides insight and inspiration that permeates the entire organization.  Revenue Club seeks to provide the same insight and inspiration to high school students by placing them in contact with mentors who are not only professionals in their chosen field, but graduated from the same high school.  Providing students with a glimpse at people who came from similar backgrounds and are now leaders in the community in fields these students will one day enter.  Read the article by clicking the link and share your thoughts with us.  READ MORE at Inc. Why I think mentoring is necessary.

I'm intrigued by the practice of mentoring and often get asked why I mentor students and why I created RevenueClub. I find mentoring, especially when it involves high school students, to be of major importance because it's a great way to share the exciting career I'm involved in to students who might still be on the fence about what they want to be when they grow up. I believe its important to see and learn from many people all the exciting careers that exist, but more importantly, to get an idea of what is involved in any particular field of study.
